Raptadu (Anantapur): Three DWCRA women were injured and a man sustained injuries in a scuffle between the police, women and followers of Minister Paritala Sunitha at Gondireddipalle village in Raptadu mandal here on Monday.

The followers of the minister attacked the DWCRA women for declining to give any assurance that they would vote to TDP. The women had heated argument with TDP leaders and this led to a scuffle between the women and TDP workers and the police, who tried to prevent violence.

Tension prevailed in Gondireddipalli village even as Self-Help Group (SHG) women squatted on the road to declare their protest against the ‘Pasupu Kunkuma’ cheques which are being described as government dole to DWCRA women while it is actually a loan, the women claimed.

Tension increased with the police forcibly removing women, who squatted on the road with the arrival of Paritala Sunitha to the village for disbursal of cheques to DWCRA women.

The women, who tried to stop the convoy of minister, were attacked by followers of Sunitha and her son Sriram. Police dragged the protesting women and gave full protection at the venue of the minister's meeting. The minister hastily concluded her meeting and left the village.
