Road safety a social responsibility, says Collector Praveen Kumar

Eluru: District Collector Praveen Kumar has said everybody should realize that road safety was a social responsibility. He inaugurated the road safety week here on Monday. 

Accompanied by MLC Ramu Suryarao and SP Raviprakash, he released flexis, booklets and pamphlets to bring awareness among the people on road safety. 

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector urged people to follow traffic rules and road safety act norms and cooperate for safety on roads. 

The role of transport and police departments is crucial in this regard, he opined. He called upon the officials of the departments to take up extensive awareness programmes on road safety. 

The people, especially youth should be involved in awareness programmes to avoid accidents. 

Medical camps, wearing of helmet and seatbelts and other programmes would be convened till February 10 as part of the awareness drive, he informed.
