TTD on alert with jumbo presence near Tirumala
Tirupati: Following the straying of the wild elephants into TTD forest area, 3 km from Tirumala, last night the Forest department is on alert to check the elephants coming further into the human habitation on the hill top temple town.
According to sources, a herd of four elephants came up to TTD sandalwood plantation, near Parvetamandapam forest area. TTD forest workers, who found the droppings (stool) of the elephants in the area, alerted the authorities to step vigil in the forests.
TTD’s Forest department is in touch with the State government’s Forest department and keeping a close watch on the forests to find out any further movement of the elephants. Though the presence of wild elephants and their movement in Tirumala forest is not new, it is first time the jumbo presence so near to Tirumala.
