2 victims examined in Vakapalli case

Visakhapatnam: The trial for the Vakapalli gang-rape case began at the Special Court for SC, ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act Cases in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday. After massive efforts for by the victims and Human Rights activists, the gang-rape case was registered in the incident.

According to the legal sources, on the first day, two of the nine victims were examined and cross-examined and the evidence was also completed.
It may be noted that of the 11 victims in the case, two women lost their lives, and nine victims are alive.

According to the court directions, all the victims will be examined before the Judge O V Nageswara Rao and the victims will also be cross-examined by the defense lawyers.

The potency test was carried out on the thirteen accused persons by a team of doctors at King George Hospital and the team of doctors submitted a report to the Court. In August 2007, 11 tribal women of Vakapalli village of G.Madugula Mandal in the Agency were allegedly gang-raped by the 21 Commandos.
