Sharif elected as Council Chairman unanimously

Vijayawada: MLC Mohmammed Sharif unanimously elected as the chairman of the Legislative Council on Thursday and assumed the charge. He was the only candidate filed the nomination papers for the post of chairman on Wednesday. 

Sharif is one of the senior TDP leaders in the State and joined the party three decades ago soon after late NTR founded the Party. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Minister for Finance and Legislative Affairs Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, other ministers and MLCs were present on the occasion and congratulated Md Sharif.  Speaking on the occasion, Chandrababu Naidu said the TDP government had given two important posts to Muslim community in the State. 

He said NMD Farooq was inducted into State cabinet and Sharif has been given the key post of chairman of the Legislative Council. Chandrababu Naidu lauded the services of Sharif to the party and people of Andhra Pradesh during his long political career.

Sharif was born in 1955 in Narasapuram of West Godavari district and studied B. Com in the town and later did M.Com and LLB in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.  He worked as national general secretary of the TDP. 

He was given MLC post and became Government whip in the current session. Finally, he was elevated to the post of chairman of the Legislative council. MLCs Katti Narasimha Reddy, Dokka Manikya Varaprasad and others congratulated Sharif and recalled their association with the senior TDP leader.
