Congress alleges tampering of EVMs

Hyderabad: The Congress on Saturday alleged that several malpractices have been taken place in the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in the recent Assembly election and the Vikarabad incident was one of them. 

Addressing the media former MP K Visweswar Reddy, candidates in the Assembly polls G Prasad Kumar, M Ranga Reddy and Rammohan Reddy said that tampering of EVMs has taken place in about 25 constituencies. 

In Vikarabad AC about 25 EVMs have been opened. The Congress had also lodged complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI).  

In Vikarabad AC discrepancies between the votes polled and counted has taken place in 183 polling stations. While there were 519 votes in one polling station where the EVM has shown 555 votes. 

They said that in Ibrahimpatam constituency the results were stopped for five hours. The EC was not responding to the requests to show the CCTV footages of this constituency. 

Meanwhile the TPCC EC Coordination Committee convener G Niranjan demanded the EC to take action on the returning officers of Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency. 

He said that the VVPAT machines of this AC have been opened and the slips have been misplaced.
