SCS issue boosts Cong ticket aspirants

Ongole: Thanks to different reasons which forced the Union government to not accord Special Category Status to the Andhra Pradesh, the Congress party which didn’t have able candidates to contest in 2014 is now receiving a handful of applications from the interested leaders in all constituencies.

The Prakasam district Congress committee president Eda Sudhakar Reddy announced that they have received applications from several candidates to contest from 12 Assembly and Ongole and Bapatla Parliamentary constituencies from February 7 to 10. 

He said that they got an unexpected response from the candidates to the democratic way of calling applications. He said that several people in the government service like doctors and district level officers also shown interest in the Congress party. 

He believed that the people are on Congress side for its commitment to announce special category status to Andhra Pradesh, fund Polavaram project, Visakha railway zone and Kadapa steel factory along with the implementation of AP Reorganization Act to the true spirit.

He announced that they received 8 applications for Ongole, 3 for Addanki, 6 for Chirala, 4 for Darsi, 5 for Giddalur, 8 for Kandukur, 6 for Kanigiri, 5 for Kondapi, 6 for Markapuram, 4 for Parchuru, 5 for Santhanuthalapadu and 8 for Yerragondapalem, a total of 68 applications for the 12 assembly constituencies in the district. 

He added that they received 5 applications for Ongole and 1 application for Bapatla parliament constituencies from the district leaders. 

He informed that those who didn’t able to submit their applications in time, but has the interest to contest from any of the constituencies in the district, they could submit their application from February 12 to 16 at state PCC office in Vijayawada.
