25-yr-old woman dies in attack on lovers
Guntur: In a shocking incident, unidentified miscreants attacked a lover couple late on Monday night at an isolated spot at International Cricket Stadium in Navaluru village near Mangalagiri, killing the woman and seriously injuring the man, who is battling for life in a hospital in Mangalagiri.
The deceased was identified as Angadi Jyothi, 25, and injured man was identified as Chenchu Srinu, 26. According to police, Jyothi and Srinu, residents of YSR Colony of Tadepalli, had been in love for the last three years.
They reached a secluded place at cricket stadium on Monday night. When they were alone, some miscreants attacked them with iron rods injuring them seriously. Jyothi died on the spot. She studied M.Pharmacy in a private college in Guntur city. Seriously injured Srinu alerted the police. Mangalagiri rural police who rushed to the scene, shifted Srinu to NRI General Hospital for treatment.
He is unable to provide information to the police on the attack. Speaking to media in Mangalagiri, Jyothi’s brother Prabhakar expressed suspicion that Srinu might be behind the attack on his sister.
According to him, they told Srinu’s family about the love affair and they left the village. But the duo had been secretly meeting and on February 11, a woman called up Jyothi several times on behalf of Srinu and asked her to meet Srinu.
Speaking to The Hans India, Guntur North DSP G Rama Krishna said they had taken two suspects into the custody in connection with the Jyothi’s murder.
