Mahila Fest begins in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: About 1,000 students from different colleges participated at the inaugural of two-day Mahila Fest organised by 'Taruni Tarangalu' at PB Siddhartha Auditorium here on Tuesday. 

Speaking on the occasion, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Gadde Anuradha said it is good to see a good number of women from various organisations and fields come under one roof to celebrate various events organised by Taruni Tarangalu. 

The presence of women in various fields such as education, jobs, science etc has been growing day by day and their achievements are also reaching high levels. Women themselves have to be prepared for their safety rather than depending on others, she said.

Taruni Tarangalu president Dr Raavi Sarada said with the efforts of many social reformers, at present there is an unparalleled change of women in society. 

Referring to the fest, she informed that 18 various academic and cultural programmes and seminars would be held. 

Prizes to the winners will be distributed on Wednesday. The members of Taruni Tarangalu along with others took part in the programme.
