Markapur: The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson Dr Eluri Ramachandra Reddy announced that they will organise a 2K Run at Markapuram on February 17, demanding that the government release enough funds for the completion of Veligonda project.

Ramachandra Reddy wrote an open letter to Prakasam district people on Thursday and sought their active participation and cooperation to the agitation for completion of Veligonda project.

He said in the letter that the people in the western area of the Prakasam district are migrating to other places as they have no irrigation and drinking water there.

The Veligonda project, which is mostly acclaimed as the lifeline project for the Western Prakasam, is in construction state for years and he expressed doubt that it may take another 10 years if the public does not start to demand its completion.

He invited the intellectuals, students, farmers, farm workers and their organisations to join him along with other people from the district at the statues of Pula Subbaiah and Tayamma near RTC bus stand to join the 2K run.

He asked the public to give voice to the demand that could change their lives and asked them to participate in thousands and show their might to the government.
