MLA inaugurates Closed Compaction System to end garbage problem
Visakhapatnam: South MLA Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar on Thursday inaugurated a modernised 'Closed Compaction System’ at Old-Town. With the help of Swachha Andhra Corporation, this Rs 9.58 crore worth Garbage Transfer Station is bought to bring an end to the open garbage shifting system. On the occasion, the MLA said that it would be a new phase in lifting garbage and the public no longer has to worry about the pungent smell, mosquitoes and spread of diseases.
The garbage compaction would eradicate the unusual falling of garbage and sewage water on roads from the garbage carriers. The advanced system would help to end the garbage storage system, which promotes many contagious diseases among people, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation, Additional Commissioner GVVS Murthy said that the compactor would help to lift garbage of 300 tonnes per day (TPD) with the help of two units of hoper system, 12 M S Cylinder Containers, two sets of container changeover systems and hook loader vehicles.
Zonal Commissioner Chitti Babu, MMO of GVMC Dr.Sudhakar, Mechanical Engineer Royal Babu and members of Janmabhoomi local committee and sanitary workers were present.
