Rebel threat to YSRCP in ensuing polls

Kadapa: The YSRCP which had secured 9 Assembly segments and 2 MP seats in 2014 elections in the district is facing threat from rebels as they are ready to file nomination papers as independents if they were denied tickets. Especially, the YSRCP facing threat from rebels in Jammalamadugu, Proddatur and Rajampet constituencies.

It may be recalled that YSRCP had won Jammalamadugu and Proddatur constituencies while TDP had won only Rajampet segment in 2014 elections. Minister C Adinarayana Reddy, who got elected on YSRCP ticket from Jammalamadugu, had joined the TDP. YSRCP mahila wing president Alle Prabhavathi, who was expecting Jammalamadugu ticket in the upcoming elections, has threatened to contest as an independent candidate.

The party allotted MLA ticket to Dr Sudheer Reddy. In Rajampet constituency, TDP MLA Meda Mallikarjuna Reddy switched loyalty to the YSRCP. Segment in-charge Akepati Amarnath Reddy, who pinned high hopes on getting MLA ticket, had warned high command of contesting as rebel candidate. YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy reportedly planning to replace Proddatur sitting MLA Rachamallu Sivaprasada Reddy with another candidate. Even, he may contest as an independent.
