Vijayawada: Vijayawada city politics has taken a new turn once again as industrialist Dasari Jairamesh met YSR Congress president YS Jaganmohan Reddy in Hyderabad on Friday.

Indeed, Dasari Jairamesh was a strong loyalist of the TDP and also was backbone to the party in 1980s. He contested from Vijayawada parliament seat in 1998 election and was defeated with a margin of 30,000 votes.

His brother Dasari Balavardhana Rao was elected twice from Gannavaram on the TDP ticket. The Dasari family, however, has been keeping off the party for the last several years as it feels that the party leadership has been neglecting them. In this backdrop, Jairamesh met Jagan amid speculation that that he may contest from Vijayawada parliament seat.

His name has been doing rounds in political circles for the past few months that he might join YSR Congress. But the leaders of Krishna district never believed the news as Jairamesh was one of the pillars to the TDP. He had close contacts with TDP founder and former chief minister the late NT Rama Rao and his family members.

But Jairamesh was not happy with the TDP leadership since 1999 though his brother Dasari Balavardhana Rao won the 2009 elections. Later, Balavardhana Rao was denied party ticket in 2014 elections by the party in favour of Vallabhaneni Vamsimohan while he got an assurance that he would be compensated with Vijaya Dairy chairmanship. But the TDP leadership failed to fulfil its promise since its current chairman Mandava Janakiramiah is reluctant to relinquish the post.

Jairamesh has been expressing displeasure with various leaders and business circles at the TDP. Especially, he is upset with the TDP leadership because he is not being considered on par with various prominent business persons in the country.

Finally, he took the decision to join in YSRCP by criticising the TDP and its leadership. He also hurled allegations of corruption against the government. But he did not clarify whether he would contest on YSRC ticket for Vijayawada parliament seat or elsewhere.

The city-based former MLAs Adusumilli Jayaprakash, Yalamanchali Ravi and some other city leaders were also present along with Jairamesh when he met Jagan.
