BSNL on expansion mode, says Chief General Manager

Vijayawada: Stoutly denying the rumours that Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) on the verge closure, A. Purnachandra Rao, Chief General Manager of Andhra Pradesh circle, said here on Friday that in fact, the BSNL is on an expansion mode.

In a statement issued here on Friday,  the CGM said, “The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) would like to see a robust BSNL duly strengthened and financially viable dedicated to serving the nation and playing an important role in the Telecom sector.”

The CGM said that the BSNL is providing new services like NGN in the entire country with one lakh towers and eight lakh-km optical fibre cable to serve even in remote areas. ``The network of BSNL is continuously being expanded in providing various services such as landline, broadband, fibre to home, leased line, WiFi and mobile services,” he said.

According to him, the BSNL is expanding its mobile network with 4G services in the entire State this year.  So far the 4G services are available in 54 town areas in the State and BSNL customers are happy with the speed of 4G services, he said.

The BSNL has achieved 200 per cent growth in broadband, mobile and data services, he pointed out. The CGM appealed to people not to pay heed to any rumours regarding BSNL.
