Rage over rape intensifies

  • Students, people’s groups take out rally, stage protests
  • 10-yr-old schoolgirl admitted to hospital

Bhimavaram: The anger over rape of 10-year-old school girl intensified as students and people’s organisations took out a huge rally besides staging protest demonstrations in the town on Friday. 

A student of Class III was molested by her dance teacher Chaitanya Varma in the washroom of Sri Bharathi School in the town on Tuesday evening. Since then, protests were being held at the school and in the town and they have been intensified.

The protesters have been demanding stringent action against the culprit and also targeting the school for poorly handling the issue after the crime was committed. 

The teacher was thrashed by parents and relatives and handed over to the police for further action. The victim has been admitted to a hospital and is undergoing treatment there. 

Basing on the complaint lodged by the parents of the victim, the police registered a case. 

Women groups and students unions took part in the rally taken out in the town. The agitators raised slogans to save girl child and save nation. They displayed placards against incidents of rape of children, demanding justice to them.

The speakers at the protest rally expressed their concern over the increasing incidents of rape of little children in spite of harsh laws that were enacted to punish the guilty.
