District admin gears up for polls in Vijayawada
- Sets up 3,200 polling stations for 32 lakh voters
Vijayawada/Kakinada: The Krishna district administration is making all the necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of ensuing elections. The district administration decided to conduct awareness meetings on Electronic Voting Machines (EVM)s for the voters at various places in the district.
Krishna district collector Imtiaz Ahmed said that the district management is getting ready to conduct the upcoming elections.
He said that as many 3,200 polling stations would be established for 32 lakh voters in the district. As per plans, 31,000 polling staff would participate in the election duties.
The awareness on using voter verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) would be provided to the staff, he said and added that two teams would participate in training duties. The ECI would introduce VVPAT for the first time in the State, he said.
Joint Collector Kritika Shukla said that the training programme would be conducted for five days on the use of EVMs and VVPAT. She also said that the 32 vehicles have been provided to tour across the district to create awareness among voters.
She further said that the awareness programmes would be conducted at Nuzvid, Machilipatnam, Vijayawada and Gudiwada divisions.
