65.8 pc of Polavaram works complete: Minister D Umamaheswara Rao
Polavaram: Minister for Water Resources D Uma Maheswara Rao said that 65.8 per cent works relating to Polavaram project were completed and water for cultivation would be released from June.
The Minister accompanied 7,000 farmers to the project site from Krishna district on Sunday. The farmers in about 150 buses arrived here to witness the ongoing works of the project. They expressed happiness over the progress in the national project.
Another batch of 35,000 people in 600 buses also visited the project on Sunday. The minister personally explained the salient features of the project to the visitors.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, Uma Maheshwara Rao said that more than 10
lakh people visited the project so far.
He announced that “irrespective of conspiracies of opposition parties,” the government was committed to supply water from the project by gravity from June. The project would be completed by December, he announced.
He said that the project was creating history on account of its speedy progress of works. It already secured a place in the Guinness Book of World Records relating to its concrete works.
Details of the funds spent on the project were posted online to maintain total transparency in execution of works, he claimed.
