Eluru: Out of a total 98,000 claims regarding voter registrations and other issues relating to elections, 76,000 claims need to be settled by the district administration.

The pending claims will be settled before February 25, according to District Collector Praveen Kumar.

The Collector conveyed this to the State Chief Electoral Officer Gopalakrishna Dwivedi who convened a videoconference from Amaravati on Saturday night.

The district administration has prepared an action plan for conducting general elections in the district in a few months from now, the Collector said.

On the voter’s complaints of discrepancies, the Collector clarified that they would be resolved with accuracy.

The verification of basic infrastructure facilities at polling stations was going on and any proposals regarding the facilities would be submitted by Monday, he said.

He informed Dwivedi that the district administration had completed awareness on EVM, VVPAT for representatives of political leaders and journalists.

The exercise relating to awareness programmes at constituency level was also completed, he added.
