Bamboo Chicken enters ‘India Book of Records’

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority has created another record for India Book of Records by making longest ‘Bamboo Chicken’ (first time in India) at Harita Berm Park here on Monday.

The chief guest of the programme was APTDC executive director TVSG Kumar. Chief Marketing Officer Srinivas Rao was also present on the occassion. Shantanu Chauwan from the ‘India Book of Records’ was the judge of the event. 

Representative of Marriot Hotel Subhanshu along with chief chef Rupesh and team participated in the record.

Speaking on the occasion, Kumar said that expert chefs from Fairfield Marriott were invited from Vishakhapatnam for preparing the Bamboo Chicken. Earlier Andhra Pradesh Tourism was able to get into the ‘India Book of Records’ for making a 10.5-metre-long Poothareku in August 2018.

Bamboo Chicken, a tribal dish of Andhra Pradesh is cooked in a raw bamboo shoot. The natural method of cooking on open fire is healthy as well gives bamboo aroma, keeps the nutrients and retains the nutritive values. Bamboo Chicken can be found in Araku Valley, Visakhapatnam and Maredumilli in East Godavari district, he said.

Srinivasa Rao said that the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation is promoting Bamboo Chicken as the Brand of Andhra Pradesh. It is one of the unique and healthy delicacy of Andhra Pradesh as well as India, he said.

Cheff Rupesh said 8 kgs of chicken and other ingredients were stuffed in 15 feet long bamboo to create the record. It was cooked on open fire (coal). The bamboo was procured from Visakhapatnam Agency area, he added.
