Meet on environment protection begins in Rajamahendravaram

Rajamahendravaram: Sonam State University (USA) Professor and noted environmentalist Christina Nichol has said it was the duty of everyone in the society to protect the environment.

Inaugurating a seminar conducted on environment in Telugu and English under the aegis of English Department of Adikavi Nannaya University (AKNU) here on Monday, she said that all countries across the globe recognised the importance of environment now and were taking steps to protect it.

In the wake of the development, she underlined the need to publish more books on the importance of environment to bring awareness among the people across the world which is the need of the hour.

The students should come forward in this regard, she said and underlined the need to conduct awareness meetings on environment.

Seminar director and head of the English Department Prof K Sri Ramesh said the seminar would benefit the students and the teaching fraternity to exchange their views and opinions on environment.

The University is conducting many seminars on various issues from its inception, he said and appealed to the students to avail this opportunity judiciously. 

Registrar Prof S Teki, Rector Prof P Suresh Varma and others were present on the occasion.
