Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Monday launched three books Kondaveeti Vaibhavam, Kondaveeti Kaifiyath and Kondaveeti Samrajyam written and edited by historian and CEO of Cultural Centre, Vijayawada and Amaravati Dr Emani Sivanagi Reddy during the concluding session of Kondaveedu festival at Kondaveedu.

The Chief Minister complimented Dr Reddy for his commitment in writing series of books on Andhra history. The book Kondaveeti Vaibhavam authored jointly by Dr Reddy and R Mallikarjuna Rao, encapsulates the political history of the fort ruled by the Reddy’s of Kondaveedu, Gajapatis of Orissa, Vijayanagara emperors, Qutubshahis, Moghuls, Asaf Jahis, French and the British besides various structures inside the hill fort with exact dates and incidents.

The second book Kondaveeti Kaifiyath is a local record / chronicle collected by Colonel Colin Mackenzie (Mackenzie Manuscripts) and recorded as revealed by the local karanams (village officers) from their memory based on historical and literary accounts.

Though there was some anachronism in the lineages of the kings and genealogies, it presents the storyline of the dynasties that controlled the fort. It is annexed by Murthujanagar Kaifiyath which could be considered as a semi-historical record.

The third book entitled Sri Kondaveeti Samrajyam was originally written by one Maddulapalli Gurubrahama Sarma, a teacher from Narasaraopet, exactly 100 years ago.

The book edited by Dr E Sivanagi Reddy and K Siva Reddy is a narrative of the historical record of Kondaveedu and its surroundings including the fortifications, garrisons, stables, temples and masjids built over a period of time.

The last two books are published by Dr Vizai Bhaskar, CEO, Andhra Pradesh Creativity and Cultural Commission.
