Foreign Parcel Counter to benefit north coastal AP exporters

 Visakhapatnam: The long-awaited Indian Posts foreign export counter opened in Vijayawada recently, will benefit the exporters from north coastal districts a lot. With lack of such a facility in the state, all these years, the exporters are depending on Chennai and Bangalore to export their goods. 

The Postal department opened the Foreign Parcel Counter (FPC) near Polytechnic College in Vijayawada recently. The customs officials will give all the clearances after scanning the parcels. There are over 80 industries and 100 mid and small-scale industries exporting products to various nations. Meanwhile, large number of individuals are also sending various parcels to other nations.

As there is no FPC counter in the State, the exporters and individuals demanding the government to open such facility and finally, the Indian Post opened the counter in Vijayawada. “With the opening of FPC, the time and money will be saved to exporters and all the products can be sent from Vijayawada. The exporters, according to the guidelines of Postal Bill of Export 1 or 2, have to attach the invoice with the parcel.

The local customs officials will screen the documents and give clearance. The exporters, who utilise the International GST (through refund)/letter of understanding will get exemption of export tax. Even the exporters who are not coming under the tax net can also send their parcels from Vijayawada counter,” said Assistant Director, Post Master General Office, A Panda.
