Kanna Lakshminarayana seeks Centre’s probe into farmer’s death
Guntur: BJP state president Kanna Lakshminarayana urged the Union Minister for Home Affairs Rajnath Singh to order for an inquiry into the suicide of farmer Pitla Koteswara Rao alias Kotaiah at Kondaveedu Fort in Guntur city on February18.
In a letter written to the Rajnath Singh, he alleged that on the occasion of Chief Minister’s visit to Kondaveedu Fort, local police had taken papaya gardens of the farmer Kotaiah to set up control room. The police destroyed the papaya gardens and beaten the farmer for raising objections.
He alleged that though the farmer was battling for life, the police did not allow the family members to shift him to the hospital. He said that the farmer died in the agriculture fields.
Referring to the comments of the villagers, Kanna alleged that police poured pesticide into the mouth of the deceased and wanted to project it as suicide. Chandrababu Naidu did not order for an inquiry into the death of the farmer and the district administration is least bothered. He requested the Rajnath Singh to order for inquiry into the death of farmer.
Meanwhile, Guntur rural SP S V Rajasekhara Babu informed that they have taken the gardens of Pitla Kotaiah with his permission and set up the control room on the occasion of N Chandrababu Naidu's visit to Kondaveedu.
Addressing media in Guntur city on Tuesday, he denied allegations made by leaders of various political parties on Kotaiah's death. He said, it has come to his notice that the farmer committed suicide and he ordered for an inquiry by Narasaraopet DSP Ravi Varma who will inquire and submit the report.
