Woman thrashed for not repaying borrowed money
Kurnool: In an in human act, the money lenders have tied a woman to a tree and beat mercilessly for not repaying the amount borrowed. This incident took place in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar here on Wednesday but came to light on Thursday.
According to information, Jammakka alias Yellamma and her husband Jammanna are residents of Rajeev Gandhi Nagar. Some time ago, Yellamma had borrowed Rs 1.1 lakh from Lakshmakka of Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Rs 40,000 from a resident of Hanuman Nagar and Rs 12,000 from a cloth merchant.
In total, she had borrowed Rs 2.5 lakh. Expecting money lenders would ask her to repay, she used to leave her home for some time and later return. However, the money lenders have managed to catch Yellamma with the help of her husband after they pressurised him to repay debt on behalf of his wife.
The news of woman was beaten mercilessly for not repaying borrowed money spread like a wild fire to nearby localities and people in large number flocked to see what was happening there.
Before the media persons could reached the colony where Yellamma was tied, a community elder of Rajiv Gandhi Nagar has reportedly pacified the money lenders. Speaking to The Hans India, II Town Inspector of Police V Bhaskar said they came to know about the incident and registered a case.
