Vijayawada: Mummaneni Subbarao Sidhartha Kalapeetham organised their monthly programme at Sidddardha Auditorium on Wednesday with an innovative concept titled ‘Prabandhanayikalu’ in which six literary personalities and a team of dancers performed.

The organisers had chosen some of the literature works during the time of Srikrishna Devaraya regime for this conceptual programme. The six literary personalities had touched the subjects of ‘Manucharitra’ (Allasani Peddana), ‘Panduranga Mahatyam’ (Tenali Ramakrishna Kavi), ‘Parijatapaharanam’ (Nandi Timmana), ‘Vasu Charitra’ (Ramaraja Bhushana), ‘Amukta Malyada’ (Srikrishna Devarayalu) and ‘Prabhavathi Pradhyumnam’ (Pingali Surana).

The programme commenced with an invocation dance item ‘Ma Telugu Talliki Malle pudanda’ written by Shankarambadi Sundarachari and performed by Koka Vijayalakshmi.

Koka Vimalakumari performed as sister of ‘Nigama Sarma’ in Panduranga Mahatyam and explained the measures taken by Nigama Sarma sister to change his attitude. This was followed by Nidumolu Kanakadurgarani as Varudhini in Manucharitra, P Kalyana Lakshmi as Gerika role in Vasucharitra, Dr Challa Sitamahalakshmi as Godadevi in Amuktamalyada, Dr VN Manga Devi as Prabhavathi role in Prabhavathi Pradyumnam and Dr Vemuri Satyavathi as Satyabhama in Parijatapaharanam. Dr Rejina acted as coordinator for this literary and dance programme.

Most of these literary personalities tried to give good expression in their voice but if they did some more homework the programme would have been more effective. The title ‘prabandhanayikalu’ is also not fully justified to the programme. However, this was a good attempt duly clubbing the literature with dance.

As far as dance part is concerned the artistes did well and received appreciations from the audience. ‘Varudhini Pravarakya’, ‘Godadevi’ and ‘Satyabhama’ dance items were showcased in between the literary episodes. Koka Vijayalakshmi performed as Varudhini, Godadevi and Satyabhama. Radhika Reddy acted as Sri Krishna and G Ravi presented the role of Pravarakya. The expressions foot work and movements were apt.

The artistes were felicitated by Tatineni Srihari Rao, committee member, Kalapeetham. This event was supervised by T Ramesh, treasure of Kala peetham and introduction was given by Khandapu Manmadha Rao, Kalapeetham coordinator.
