Married woman hurt in knife attack

Vijayawada: A married woman was brutally attacked with a knife at Kanchikacherla mandal centre in the district on Sunday. According to the Kanchikacherla police, the victim was identified as Kommukuri Jyothi. 

Police said that the accused allegedly slit the throat of Jyothi at her residence. On receiving the information, the police immediately reached the spot and shifted the woman to government hospital, Vijayawada. 

The condition of the victim is serious. Police suspect that extra-marital affair would be the reason behind the attack. The police suspect that her husband Kommukuri Devaraju could have attacked her with a knife.

Devaraju and Jyothi got married 2 years back and Devaraju was working at Ibrahimpatnam.  Devaraju has been suspecting the fidelity of his wife for the past few months and he might have attacked her with sharp knife, said the police.
