Congress promises 60-70 pc seats to weaker sections in Ongole
Ongole: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president N Raghuveera Reddy announced that the weaker sections in the country are extending support to Congress party.
Addressing the meeting at Ongole on Monday, he said that the development and welfare of weaker sections in society is only possible when Congress party is in power and that is why the SCs, STs, BCs, minorities, and women want the Congress to lead government at centre and state.
Raghuveera Reddy and other Congress leaders like JD Seelam, Panabaka Lakshmi, Pallam Raju, Tulasi Reddy, DCC president Eda Sudhakar Reddy and others reached Ongole on Sunday evening to participate in Pratyeka Hoda Bharosa Yatra and spoke to the media at the DCC office on Monday morning, before leaving for Addanki.
Raghuveera said that they are touring all districts to give assurance to the public that the special category status (SCS) to the state will be announced as soon as Rahul Gandhi takes oath as the Prime Minister.
He said that they are also assuring the development of the youth, women and also funds to the local projects are possible only with Congress party.
He promised to complete the Veligonda and other projects in the Prakasam district on a war footing, providing a better price to the subabul and eucalyptus farmers, construction of major port at Ramayapatnam, initiating works of NIMZ at Kanigiri and promoting agri-based industries in the district to provide employment to the locals.
The PCC chief announced that the weaker sections like SC, ST, BC, minorities, and women are with Congress party since Indira Gandhi period and the Congress has already provided agriculture lands, reservations in education, employment and political opportunities.
He said that now the weaker sections are living in fear and the regional parties proved to be failed in providing social justice. He alleged that the BJP is behaving like that it has a grudge on the dalits, minorities and are oppressing their rights.
He said that the BJP is also daring to review the Constitution to end reservations and the people fear that they would be treated as second-grade citizen if BJP comes again to power at the centre.
He said that Rahul Gandhi has plans to support these oppressed classes and want to give lion share to them in the political arena. He announced that the Congress party will allocate 60 to 70 percent of the seats to the SCs, STs, BCs, minorities, and women.
He said that they are ready to field SC, STs in general category seats also wherever possible. He alleged that the TDP and YSRCP are resorting to caste-based politics and are trying to cheat the other castes in the name of corporations and federations.
He said that the motto of the Congress party is welfare and development for all people and at all places and asked the public to extend their support.
Responding to the YSRCP workers attack on the Pratyeka Hoda Bharosa Yatra in Venkatagiri of Nellore district, Raghuveera said that the YSRCP leaders are trying to prove their loyalty to Narendra Modi.
He said that the attack is a repercussion as Rahul Gandhi announced that no one could stop him from announcing special category status to the Andhra Pradesh.
He alleged that the YSRCP and BJP are working together and that is the reason they planned the attack on Congress leaders.
