Ex-corporator found murdered in her flat
Visakhapatnam : Former Gajuwaka corporator and Congress city women wing leader Bhogasamudram Vijaya Reddy, 54, was found brutally murdered at her fifth floor flat in Padma Bhaskar Apartment near NGGO’s colony, Akkayapalem here on Tuesday.
According to IV Town CI Y Ravi, a couple from Bhimili had been in contact with Vijaya Reddy to buy a flat in Akkayapalem from her. At around 11 am on Monday, Vijaya Reddy’s husband Vishnu Narayana Reddy, a private bank employee, received a text message from her mobile phone stating that she was going out on some work.
Later, the phone was switched off. Narayana on returning home from work Monday evening, found the flat door locked and as he had no key with him, spent the night in a neighbour’s house.
Again on Tuesday morning, Narayana Reddy returned to the locked flat and opened the door with another key which was with one of their relatives. As he went towards bedroom, he noticed blood stains on the floor and later found his wife Vijaya Reddy lying in a pool of blood in bathroom. He immediately informed the police.
Police found that assailants murdered the woman with a knife and fled with 20 tola gold chain and some other valuables. It is believed they themselves sent a text message from her phone to husband’s phone before fleeing the spot. Police registered the case and moved the body to KGH for post-mortem. Police are investigation the case from various angles, including political and real estate disputes.
