200 cr for tap connections in 3 mandals
Nellore: Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said that the government would be spending Rs 200 crore for providing water tap connections to all households in Venkatachalam, Podalakur and Manubolu mandals.
Participating in a programme in Podalakur on Tuesday, the Minister distributed 172 sewing machines to the women, who completed training in sewing. The training programme was sponsored by the AP State Minorities Finance Corporation. Speaking at the meeting, Somireddy said that they were distributing cash of Rs 1,500 along with a sewing machine to all trained women.
The Minister assured women of providing government support for their livelihood. “We have spent Rs 197.46 crore for welfare of minorities under the Minorities Finance Corporation during the last four years.
We have incurred Rs 3.75 crore for providing training to 2,577 women for their self-employment. State government had also distributed Rs 2.45 crore for minority students at Rs 15 lakh each towards their education in abroad,” he stated.
Somireddy said the State government had introduced Dulhan scheme as soon as coming to power and sanctioned Rs 50,000 as marriage gift to the unmarried woman. Drinking water supply in Podalakuru region was once in 15 days, he mentioned and added that water is now being supplied alternate days after TDP came to power.
He said mega mineral water plant is going to be inaugurated shortly which was set up at a cost of Rs 4.6 crore to meet drinking water needs of Podalakur mandal. He slammed former Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy for failing to sanction Rs 62 crore for lift irrigation when he was Finance Minister and now, he is making adverse comments on the ruling government.
The Minister flayed MLA concerned from the Opposition for not signing on the papers to provide Pattas for the farmers of Sarvepalli constituency. Local leaders were present.
