All set for Narendra Modi’s visit to Vizag on March 1
Visakhapatnam: Arrangements for the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 1 are on in full swing. The Prime Minister is slated to address a public meeting at the Railway Exhibition Ground in the city. It may be mentioned that the BJP had sought permission from Andhra University to use the ground, but the University authorities refused permission.
This meeting assumes importance as the relationship between BJP and TDP has been frosty and TDP has been alleging that the Centre was not helping the State in any way and had not implemented the assurances given in the AP State Re-Organisation Act.
It now remains to be seen if the Prime Minister would give any clarity on the allegations being made by the State government or will speak more about the latest developments including the surgical strike and again lash at the state government for its so called ‘U’ turn on special category status. Senior police officials have been visiting the ground to ensure that there is no lapse in the Prime Minister’s security.
The officials include SPG IG Namgyal, Visakhapatnam Collector Bhaskar and CP Mahesh Chandra Laddah along with IG Namgyal visited the ground and given the instructions to State police and district officials over security.
