Rain lashes pilgrim city
Tirupati: The pilgrim city witnessed a sudden downpour lasting for an hour crippling normal movement of people and vehicles on Wednesday evening.
People more so the children returning from schools, employees returning home from works, general public and the pilgrims, who were caught unaware of the sudden rain faced lot of inconvenience.
With the drains overflowing due to the rains, the roads were under sheet of waters blocking the traffic at several places in the city while in the low-lying areas also people faced difficulties to wade through knee deep waters in the colonies inundated with the rainwater.
Power supply was interrupted for about thirty minutes following the stopping of the supply by SPDCL as a precautionary measure. However, in some areas the restoration of power supply which was disrupted due to the falling tree branches on the power lines, took more time. No causally was reported anywhere in the city.
