Parchuru: The Parchuru MLA Yeluri Sambasiva Rao inaugurated NTR Varadhi at Ganjam, the much-awaited bridge on Romperu connecting the Rajubangarupalem to Pedaganjam on Thursday amid the cheers and claps of thousands of people.

The NTR Varadhi is a dream come true for nearly 20000 people from Pedaganjam, Gollapalem, Rajubangarupalem, Munnamvaripalem, Pedapalem, Turpurpalem and six other villages in Chinaganjam mandal, who visits Chirala and Chinaganjam regularly.

The actual distance from Chinaganjam and Pedaganjam is just five kilometres, but those wishing to travel safely should take a route of 20kilometres via Uppugunduru and spend 45 minutes even in emergency situations.

The 250 metres wide Romperu is the major obstruction for those in hurry and taking the short cut, but they should risk their life while travelling in the boat.

In monsoon, it is really dangerous to cross the rivulet and it has a history of fatal incidents.

The people living in these villages made several representations to the government to construct the bridge on Romperu so that they can travel between Chinaganjam and Pedaganjam in just 10 minutes.

After a lot of persuasion from the Parchuru MLA Sambasivarao, who announced that he won’t ask for votes if fails to construct the bridge, the government agreed to construct the bridge and sanctioned Rs 15.36 crore for the construction.

After inaugurating the NTR Varadhi, Sambasiva Rao said that he was moved by the problems being faced by the locals and the pain of them motivated him to not rest until he gets the funds for the bridge.

He assured that he will take the responsibility of developing the villages that didn’t have enough infrastructures due to lack of transport facility.

He said that as a politician it is important that what he did to the public than how many years he spent in politics.

He said that he is dedicating the NTR Varadhi to the public and keeping his promise made to them.
