Jains organise Pratista Mahotsav in Vijayawada
Vijayawada: Huge number of Jain community people joined the procession as part of the consecration ceremony (Pratista Mahotsav) of two Jain temples Sambhavanath Bhagavan Temple in Marvadi Street and Sri Sambhavanath Mandir in Kothapet here on Friday.
The devotees, including children and women wore a traditional dress and walked in the procession.
Pannalal, secretary, Sambhavanadh Jain Swetambar Murthy Pujak Sangh said ‘Sambhavanath Bhagavan Temple, the old temple in Marwadi Street was initially constructed about 125 years back and it was reconstructed some 50 years ago and another temple Sri Sambhavandh Jain Mandir near SKPVV Hindu High School, Kothapet was the recently-constructed.
Jain Acharya Vijay Ajit Sekhar said that Sri Sambhavanadh Jain temple was constructed seeking peace and prosperity for the citizens of Vijayawada and the same temple was now being reconstructed to meet the needs of the increasing number of Jain families in the city with spacious halls and all amenities.
Various spiritual events including bhajans and devotional chanting organised.
A large number of Jains from different parts of the country have been invited to celebrate the prestigious Mahotsavas in the city.
