Kala Venkata Rao presents silk clothes to Lord on behalf of State govt
Kurnool: On the occasion of Maha Sivarathri Brahmotsavams, pattuvastrams were presented to the deities of Srisailam temple by the State government on Friday. Minister of Energy K Kala Venkata Rao, along with family members, presented the silkclothes to the presiding deities, Goddess Bramarambha Devi and Mallikarjuna Swamy on behalf of the government.
The Temple Executive Officer (EO), A Sri Ramachandra Murthy, president of trustee board, Vangala Shivarami Reddy, members, KalarsRavinath Rao and others gave a warm welcome to the Minister and received him with temple honours. Special poojas were performed to the silkclothes at temple Rajagopuram amid customary nada swaram and spiritual music. They entered the temple and offered the silk clothes to the presiding deities.
The tradition of offering silken clothes to the presiding deities at Srisailamhas been followed for the past several decades. Kings and monarchs and their family members were known to be offering the silken clothes during the festive season to the deities at Srisailam temple. This tradition is now being implemented by the State government every year during Maha Sivarathri and Dasara festivities.
