121 dentists take oath at GITAM Graduation Day

Visakhapatnam: GITAM Dental College & Hospital celebrated 13th Graduation Day here on Saturday at GITAM campus. As many as 121 dentists (33 MDS, 88 BDS) received their degrees and medals during the Graduation Day and taken an oath to serve the society.

Dr NTR University of Health Sciences Vice-Chancellor Prof CV Rao attended as chief guest and addressed the graduates. 

He said the young doctors must be competent, vibrant, compassionate and good human beings, besides being responsible and responsive to the needs of society. 

He advised the graduates that there were no shortcuts to attain success and urged them to attain good results through hard work and dedication. 

GITAM President M Sribharath stressed the need to popularise the oral health importance in rural areas. He said the government must take an initiative to encourage doctors to work in rural health centres which will improve the health status of country. 

Special measures are necessary to cover the vulnerable sections with reasonable oral healthcare services, he added. GITAM Vice-President Prof M Gangadhara Rao advised the graduates to serve the society particularly under privileged and backward sections of our population.

GITAM Dental College and Hospital Principal Prof K Gangadhara Prasad briefed about the dental college progress. GITAM governing body members, dental college faculty, parents, students participated in the programme.

Gold Medals: Ms Noli Alithia Pakki received Dr M V V S Murthi  Presidential Gold Medal for best overall academic performance during BDS course. 

Ms Sukanya Vadamodulu received Dusi Mohan Rao Gold Medal for securing highest marks in microbiology during 2nd BDS Examination. 

Ms Medapati Satyavani received Dr R A Naik Gold Medal in General Medicine and Dr K Venugopala Rao Gold Medal in General Surgery for securing highest marks during 3rd BDS Examination.
