TDP stages dharna opposing deletion of voters

  • TDP Chittoor district president Pulivarthi Nani and his followers staged dharna at Sub-Collector’s office resenting unnecessary removal of voters from the list 
  • They allege that YSRCP activists, by submitting false claims through on line, are asking the local officials to delete the names of TDP sympathisers 

Tirupati: In an interesting development, TDP Chittoor district president and party nominee for Chandragiri Assembly Pulivarthi Nani staged dharna on Saturday before the Sub-Collector office here protesting the unnecessary deletion of voters from the list based on false claims in the constituency.

Nani along with several party activists from Chandragiri launched the protest. They raised slogans demanding to stop immediately the deletion of voters based on the claims (objections) submitted by YSR Congress Party booth-level activists. 

Speaking on the occasion, Nani said that YSRCP is fearing defeat resorted to foul play for removal of genuine voters who are TDP sympathisers and supporters. 

He alleged that the YSRCP activists filed such claims seeking deletion of voters from the electoral list of 324 booths in the Assembly segment. He regretted that the deletion of voters from the list continued even after he complained the issue to Tirupati Sub-collector who is the election officer for the Assembly constituency. 

He also alleged that the YSRCP leaders in a systematic way enrolled 32,000 votes in which 30,000 are not eligible as most of them are students from outside studying in the engineering colleges owned by those close to YSRCP, located in Tirupati rural area which comes under Chandragiri Assembly constituency. 

Outsiders residing in Hyderabad and other places are also enrolled as voters, he alleged and demanded the authorities to take immediate action for the removal of ineligible voters and also stop deletion of votes on false claims. 

The officials are still struggling to finalise the electoral list in Chandragiri, one of the political hot spots in the district.

Meanwhile, YSRCP activists led by party State secretary SK Babu staged dharna before Tirupati Urban Tahsildar office demanding action on those who filed false claims on online in the name of YSRCP activists for removal of votes in the city.
