TTD plans to lease out Kalyanamandapams

Chittoor: In order to reduce financial burden on TTD, it has been decided to lease out non-viable Kalyanamandapams of TTD. Many of the TTD Kalyanamandapams are running  in losses  while a few of them are functioning with some marginal income.

There are about 45 TTD Kalyanamandapams in the district  and of them, 30 are struggling for proper maintenance. Some of the TTD mandapams in Puttur and others places  in the district have already been leased  out,  sources said.

About 30 years ago,  the TTD has constructed a  Kalyanamandapam  in Chittoor with an out lay of Rs.50 lakhs.  Kalyanamandapams  of  TTD are meant for performing marriages and religious events of Hindu religion. During the last thirty years ,  the TTD has been collecting  Rs.6,000 as rent per  day for performing marriages. As there are no minimum facilities in the Kalyanamandapams ,  people are not interested to perform marriages, it is said.  

Speaking to The Hans India,  K Subhashini,  Manager,  Chittoor TTD Kalyanamandapam  admitted that there was no required response from the public  to avail the TTD Kalyanamandapam  due to various reasons.
