Meet on environment begins in Vijayawada

Vijayawada:  A two-day national seminar on ‘Global Environment Concerns – Role of Plants’ under the auspices of botany department of Andhra Loyola College commenced here on Thursday.

The chief guest of the programme was K Nagaraju, faculty of architecture and former HoD of School of Planning and Architecture.

Speaking on the occasion, Nagaraju said that the biggest concern across the globe was environment and how to safeguard the environment from pollution. 

There are many ways to control pollution. Pollution can be controlled starting from the construction of the buildings by choosing proper building material. 

Proper building design, cross ventilation, window positioning and other factors also helpful in reducing pollution, he said.

He said that by taking all precautionary measures one can avoid using material which will pollute the environment, minimise usage of electricity thereby reduce pollution.

The honorary guest K Ramesh, senior executive engineer AP Pollution Control Board, T Anitha Susan, vice-president of Andhra Christian College, Guntur, T Rose Mary, college HoD, Botany and others were present at the inaugural day programme.
