RMC to act tough on use, sale of plastic
Rajamahendravaram: Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sumit Kumar has directed the officials to take stern action and impose heavy fines on persons using and selling plastic carry bags in the city.
Reviewing the implementation of ban on plastic in the city with the heads of various wings in his office he said the usage of plastic was increased in the city, which should be controlled immediately.
Earlier, raids were intensified on the shops selling plastic material every day and 10 special teams were formed. He directed the officials not to spare anyone who sells plastic material.
Meanwhile, sanitation staff is finding many plastic glasses and bottles from drains at the time of silt clearance.
He appealed to the people to extend their cooperation to execute ban on plastic effectively as it was decided to make Rajamahendravaram as plastic-free city.
The Commissioner also asked the officials to remove wall posters as they are made of plastic. Printing press managements were directed to show the bills relating to printing of wall posters.
Additional Commissioner NVVS Rao, Deputy Commissioner T Rajagopala Rao and other officials were present.
