Women deserve equal chances: EO Anil Kumar Singhal
Tirupati: The speakers, who have attended the International Women’s Day celebrations held at various places on Friday, stressed the importance of women and their empowerment. TTD Executive Officer (EO) Anil Kumar Singhal spoke at the event organised in Mahati Auditorium in the city.
He emphasised the need for giving equal opportunities to women on par with men. Women should be honoured as per Sanathana Dharma, he stated. He mentioned country can prosper only when it gives due recognition to women.
TTD JEO B Lakshmikantham, SPW College former faculty Dr DM Premavathi, SHE team ASI P Sumathi, Principal of Rani Lady Meyyammai Achi Tamil Music College Dr S Mallika, TTD employees Indira and Kalpana also spoke.
On this occasion, the EO presented ‘Sri Padmavathi Awards’ for women employees in TTD for their talent in discharging their duties. Each one of them got 5 grams of silver dollar, memento, shawl and Lord Venkateswara Prasadam.
The Centre for Women’s Studies of Sri Venkateswara University and All India Radio, Tirupati have jointly organised Women’s Day celebrations at the University.
SVU Vice-Chancellor Prof VVN Rajendra Prasad has lit the lamp and inaugurated the programme in which Registrar Prof RK Anuradha, Principal of SVU Arts College Prof G Savaraiah, Prof T Lakshmamma, AIR Programme Executive K Indira, Rathna Reddy, Prof A Ranga Reddy, Prof Samantakamani, Prof Sakunthala, Prof Vanjamma and others also spoke.
The Centre for Women’s studies of Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) held celebrations at Saveri Guest House with the theme of “Think equal, Build smart, Innovate for change”.
The Dean of School of Social Sciences Prof K Murugaiah has presided over the function and said that due to various initiatives women has reached a stage where they can think and talk about equality. Senior Manager at AP Innovation Society M Geethasri, CEO of iB Hubs D Kavya, Prof R Jayasree, Prof G Sandhya Rani, Dr P Neeraja, Dr P Madhavi and others participated. Young innovators at SPMVV were felicitated on this occasion.
The Police Department organised an event at Police Parade Grounds in which SP KKN Anburajan participated as chief guest, who said that women play a key role in managing the finances of their families. ‘Shakti’ team will start extending its services very soon in the district with 53 members who were undergoing vigorous training to face any situation, the Urban SP said. On this occasion, he inaugurated vehicles for Shakti team. A health camp was also held for the benefit of women.
A programme was also held at Red Sanders Anti- Smuggling Task Force office where IG M Kantha Rao has greeted all the women staff by giving them flower bouquets and fruits. Indian Institute of Information Technology, Sri City has celebrated the International Women’s Day with number of activities for three days from March 6-8. The Director of IIIT, Sri City Prof G Kannabiran, faculty coordinator Dr Prerana Mukherjee, Ambika Natarajan, Dr Ritu Garg, Dr Anupama and several others took part in the events.
