Bajaj Set To Reintroduce Avenger 180 Prices Revealed

Update: 2018-02-21 20:29 IST

The 180cc cruiser will be priced from Rs 83,400 onwards; unofficial bookings begin

After many months of speculation, Bajaj Auto finally launched the updated version of its Avengerlineup in January 2018. However, the homegrown motorcycle manufacturer only chose to update the 220cc cruiser while leaving the 150cc entry-level variant untouched. We finally know the reason behind the move. The Avenger 150 is set to be replaced by a more powerful 180cc version. In fact, the Avenger 180 was spied at dealerships quite recently. It featured the same cosmetic mods as the Avenger 220 Street. The only exception was the omission of the digital instrument cluster. The cruiser will be available in two colours - gloss black and gloss red.

The new Avenger 180 is expected to continue the tradition of sharing its engines with the popular Pulsar lineup. The cruiser will most likely be powered by the same 178.6cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine from the Pulsar 180 DTSi. Mated to a 5-speed gearbox, this motor produces 17.02PS at 8500rpm and 14.22Nm 6500rpm. We expect the new Avenger 180 to feature the same state of tune as well. However, the sprocketing could be altered to offer a more laid-back riding characteristic that cruisers are known for.

Like its siblings, the Avenger 180 features the same long-travel telescopic forks upfront along with twin rear shock absorbers. While the Avenger 200 comes with a 260mm front disc brake, we expect the Avenger 180 to retain the 150’s 240mm disc upfront and 130mm drum at the rear.

The Avenger 180 has been priced quite well in our opinion. In Maharashtra, it is available at Rs 83,400 while down south in Karnataka, the cruiser sports a price tag of Rs 83,987 (all prices, ex-showroom). At this price point, it is marginally expensive than the Avenger Street 150 (Rs 80,435) and undercuts the Avenger Street 220, which is priced at Rs 92,442 (ex-showroom Mumbai). More importantly, it is around Rs 15,000 cheaper than its rival, the Suzuki Intruder 150, which sports a price tag of Rs 98,340 (ex-showroom Mumbai). With the promise of delivering the bikes within a period of 10 days, dealerships across India have started accepting bookings for token amount of Rs 10,000.
