Ford Endeavour Facelift Spied
It’s quite hard to believe the updated version of the Ford Endeavour has received any changes at all
Ford is gearing up to introduce the updated version of the Endeavour, which is also known as the Everest in neighbouring markets, soon. It’s about time Ford introduced the Endeavour facelift as the second-gen SUV made its global debut in 2014 and went on sale in China, Thailand and Australia in 2015. It was launched in India just ahead of the 2016 Auto Expo and the updated version, which spied completely undisguised recently, is expected to be launched in our market later this year or by early 2019.

The SUV caught testing rides on new twin-six spoke machine-finished alloy wheels. While it gets the option of 20-inch wheels in other markets, the tyre size for the India-spec Endeavour is likely to remain the same at 18-inches. Expect the rear profile to receive minor changes as well.
The Ford Endeavour is quite a well-loaded SUV in its segment. It gets several class-leading features such as a panoramic sunroof, active noise cancellation, an 8-inch SYNC 3 infotainment system and, most importantly, self-parking tech. Expect Ford to add a few more goodies to the feature list like passive keyless entry with push-button start-stop function along with a programmable key than more functions.
The big change, however, is reserved for what’s under the bonnet. The Endeavour/Everest facelift is expected to borrow the Ford Ranger Raptor’s powerful 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel engine mated to a 10-speed automatic. That said, it remains to be seen whether this engine and transmission will make it to the India-spec SUV.
The new twin-turbo diesel motor from Ford’s latest EcoBlue family of engines puts out a class-leading 213PS of power and 500Nm of peak torque. Expect the 10-speed auto ‘box to have closer gear ratios when compared to the 6-speed dual-clutch unit in the current SUV. This should help the engine offer better torque output over a wider range of speeds when compared to the 3.2-litre, 5-cylinder turbo diesel (200PS and 470Nm) and dual-clutch automatic seen in the current range-topper.
Ford, in all likelihood, will carry forward the current set of engines - a 2.2-litre/4-cylinder and the 3.2-litre/5-cylinder. However, we’d like to see the 2.0-litre bi-turbo unit under the bonnet of the India-spec SUV as well, maybe, in a sportier avatar even. Currently, Ford offers a performance-oriented S variant of the Figo and the Aspire, and the EcoSport is also expected to get the same. So why not give the Endeavour the same treatment?
The Ford Endeavour facelift is expected to sport a similar price tag as the outgoing model, which is priced between Rs 26.32 lakh and Rs 21.81 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). When launched, it will renew its rivalry with the Toyota Fortuner and the upcoming second-gen Mahindra Rexton and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.
