Maruti Vitara Brezza Prices Increased; Now Even More Expensive Than Tata Nexon
With ABS, dual airbags and ISOFIX now standard across the range, it is the lower variants that have seen the maximum hike in prices
Maruti Suzuki recently added an AMT gearbox to the Vitara Brezza and made safety features like ABS with EBD, dual airbags, high-speed warning, reverse parking sensors and ISOFIX mounts standard across the variant lineup. But all this has come at a cost, the most of which has been borne by the entry-level variants with manual transmission.
VARIANTS (MANUAL) | OLD PRICE (EX-SHOWROOM DELHI) | NEW PRICE (EX-SHOWROOM DELHI) | DIFFERENCE |
LDi | Rs 7.28 lakh | Rs 7.52 lakh | Rs 24,000 |
LDi (O) (now discontinued) | Rs 7.41 lakh
VDi | Rs 7.81 lakh | Rs 8.04 lakh | Rs 23,000 |
VDi (O) (now discontinued) | Rs 7.94 lakh
ZDi | Rs 8.74 lakh | Rs 8.82 lakh | Rs 8,000 |
ZDi+ | Rs 9.73 lakh | Rs 9.77 lakh | Rs 4,000 |
With the 2018 Maruti Vitara Brezza, the homegrown automaker has done away with the optional variants which offered additional safety features like ABS, dual airbags and ISOFIX only. With these features now standard, the price of the base-spec LDi variant is up by a substantial Rs 24,000 (Rs 11,000 compared to LDi(O). The higher variants have also received a hike of Rs 8,000 (ZDi) and Rs 4,000 (ZDi+) since these now get high-speed warning and Isofix. Here’s what additional safety equipment each variant gets now:
LDi: ABS, co-passenger airbag, ISOFIX, high-speed warning and reverse parking sensors (LDi (O) used to offer ABS and dual airbags over LDi)
VDi: ABS, co-passenger airbag, ISOFIX, high-speed warning (VDi (O) used to offer ABS and co-passenger airbag over VDi)
ZDi and ZDi+: High-speed warning and ISOFIX
The price hike on the base-spec variant seems justified given the number of safety features added. The higher variants, on the other hand, do not get a substantial price hike since they get only two new safety features in addition to the existing ones. Before the price hike, the base variant of the Brezza was Rs 9,000 more expensive than the entry-level Nexon diesel. The difference in the starting price of both these cars now is Rs 33,000.
