Takeaways

  1. Demand for Dzire on the rise: After a dip in average sales figures in the month of December 2018, which resulted in its month-on-month growth to dip below zero, the king of the ring seems to be rising up the popularity chart once again after managing to find 19,073 homes in January 2018.

  2. Amaze builds on incredible performance: The Amaze has been doing well in recent months and and though December 2018 saw a negative month-on-month growth, the January 2019 figures suggest that it was only because buyers wanted to wait till 2019 to get the current year’s model. While it is no way near to catching up with the Dzire, the numbers do tell an impressive story.

  3. Hyundai Xcent sales continue to fall: While the Xcent bettered its sales from December, one look at its average sales in the last six months will reveal that its sales figures continue to fall.

  4. Tata Tigor and Ford Aspire maintain their numbers: Both these sedans managed to find more takers than they did in December 2018.

  5. Volkswagen Ameo and Tata Zest continue subpar performance: The Ameo and and the Zest continue to find less than a thousand buyers each month. While this is not a big concern for Tata as the Zest is quite outdated and not its only offering in the segment, it does not reflect really well for Volkswagen.
