GST rakes in Rs 86,703 crore

New Delhi: A whopping sum of Rs 86,703 crore was collected by the Union government under Goods and Service Tax (GST) for the month of December 2017. 

Following the new tax regime in September last year, the Modi government raked in Rs 92,000 crore in the very first month. 

According to the information with the government, as many as one crore taxpayers have been registered so far under GST till January 24. Total of 17 lakh people are composition dealers who shall be filing returns every quarter. 

Total of 9.25 lakh people had paid Rs 421 crore as GST for this quarter.
