HFCL setting up OFC plant
Hyderabad: Himachal Futuristic Communications Ltd (HFCL) is setting up a greenfield project to manufacture optical fiber cable (OFC) at Fab City in RR district. The facility is expected to produce 6.4 million fibre kilometers annually. The cost of the project is estimated to be Rs260 crore and it will commence production from April 2019.
On Monday, HFCL laid foundation stone in presence of Telangana Industry Minister KT Rama Rao, Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy, Maheshwaram MLA Teegala Krishna Reddy, IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, Raviryala Sarpanch J Laxmaiah, HFCL Chairman Mahendra Pratap Shukla and MD Mahendra Nahata here at Fabcity (Ranga Reddy District) near Hyderabad, Telangana.
HFCL manufactures optical fibre cables at its plant in Goa and subsidiary HTL Ltd in Chennai. Company’s chairman Shukla said: “In order to reduce the input cost and overcome the worldwide shortage of fibre supply, we’re setting up optical fibre manufacturing facility in Telangana as a backward integration of optical fibre cable manufacturing.
This backward integration of business for HFCL and a big initiative towards Make in India and Digital India program.” The project is coming up at S-9, Fab City, at Raviryala village, Srisailam Road, Maheshwaram mandal, in Ranga Reddy district.
