Kent unveils new water purifiers

Hyderabad: Kent RO Systems, the healthcare products company on Monday launched revamped RO water purifiers with UV protection. The water purifier introduced at a range of Rs 14,500 to Rs 19,000, comes with a feature to display the amount of minerals containing in the filtered water and UV light to keep the stored water pure for longer period.

Besides, it is doubling its manufacturing capacity from its existing 5 lakh unit facility in Roorkee, to a new manufacturing facility at Noida, officially to be commissioned on September 24, 2018, at an investment of Rs 150 crore. 

In addition, Kent garnering 90 per cent business from water purifiers and 10 per cent from appliances and water softener, clocked a turnover of Rs 850 crore for the last fiscal and is expecting Rs 950 crore in the current fiscal. In India, the organised water purifiers market is around Rs 3,500 crore and unorganised is Rs 3,000 crore. 

Dr Mahesh Gupta, CMD, Kent RO Systems, said: “With the GST coming into force, many are moving towards the organised sector. However, only three per cent of the population in India are users of water purifiers, as people spend more on convenience than on health.” 

While 12 lakh RO units are sold in India every year, the Noida-based company sells nearly five lakh RO water purifiers. With sales across 600 districts in India, Kent garners five per cent of its sales from its export to 12 joining countries, further extending its export to Africa, and looking to make its mark in the US in the coming years.
