Skilled youth need of the hour: Somireddy
Hyderabad: The Federation of Small and Medium Enterprises of India (FSME India) organised 'MSME Conclave' in Nellore in which AP Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy underlined the need for empowering unemployed youth with employable skills. Reddy along with Dr Ponguru Narayana, Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, inaugurated the one-day 'MSME Conclave: Empowering Unemployed with Skills" on Tuesday. The Ministers also distributed certificates and free sewing machines to 90 women trained in fashion designing by FSME India in association with APSSDC, according to a statement from FSME India.
Speaking on the occasion, the Ministers said Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu allocated Rs 300 crore for skill development programmes in the State."The government earmarked Rs 3,700 crore for industrial incentives and Rs 1,000 crore for Yuva Nestham. This goes on to prove that AP government is giving top priority to employment generation," Somireddy said.
APK Reddy, National President, FSME India, said that youth should be imparted with training when they were in college."Education and skill training should go hand-in-hand so that youngsters will be able to get decent jobs immediately after they pass out from colleges," Reddy explained. He urged the governments to chalk out necessary plans to achieve this.
