Bombay HC Halts Release of RGV's Officer

Update: 2018-05-16 16:41 IST

Ram Gopal Varma is undoubtedly the most controversial director of TFI. He has been always on news either for his social media tweets or controversial films. He is currently gearing up for the release of Officer starring Nagarjuna, but now it landed in a trouble. The film’s release has been stayed by Bombay High court.

YT Entertainment Limited had filed a petition that director Ram Gopal Varma had promised them to pay Rs. 1.06 crores before the movie’s release, but failed to do so.

The petition came up for the hearing for the first time on May 4 and an advocate who represented RGV informed the court that he will remain present in the court on May 7. On the same day, Sudheer Chandra Padiri, a co-producer of Officer, appeared in the court, instead of Varma. He informed the court that consent minutes of the order had been prepared and Varma was willing to pay the sum of ₹1.06 crore to YT Entertainment on or before May 18, 2018, or before the release of the film, whichever is earlier, through an RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement).

But the justice insisted that RGV should produce himself in the court and sign the consent order, as he failed to turn up the court passed the restraining order.
