He is back before the arc lights for his next untitled film with young director Karthik Subbaraj, who made different films like ‘Pizza’ and ‘Mercury’, the film has started its shoot in the northern part of the country.
According to sources in Chennai, Rajinikanth’s 165th film is being produced by Sun Pictures and also stars Vijay Sethupathi in a key role. While Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music for the film, Bobby Simhaa and Sananth Reddy will be playing the role of Rajini’s sons in the film. Megha Akash will also be seen opposite Sananth.
The film is going to be set in the backdrop of a gang war and Rajini will be seen in the role of gangster, sources have revealed. However, an official announcement is awaited to confirm the nature of the film and the lead characters. This film will be Rajinikanth's landmark project before his foray into full-time politics.
Meanwhile, his other big ticket film ‘2.0’ is also expected to be released in a couple of months. The sci-fi thriller has been bought for Rs 81 crore by Telugu distributors and surely it needs to hit the bull’s eye at the box-office, since it is the highest price paid for a Tamil dubbed film in the annals of Telugu cinema.
